Anti-slip paper: roll or cut to size?

Anti-slip paper: roll or cut to size?
Anti-slip paper blanks save time and money

Anti-slip paper protects the load from slipping during transport and thus minimizes transport damage. The plastic-free special paper is a sustainable alternative to anti-slip mats and is a must for optimum load securing. It is generally produced in rolls. It is therefore often thought that anti-slip paper rolls are cheaper than anti-slip paper blanks, but is this true?

We can offer both variants. However, the use of anti-slip paper rolls also requires a suitable paper cutting machine, which must have a sheet ready at the right time and should be carefully integrated into the packing line. Rolls have advantages when many different formats are required on a packing line, as these can be produced as required with the cutting machine. If you wish, we will be happy to advise you personally on the integration of an anti-slip paper cutting machine into your production line.

Experience has shown that it is more economical to use anti-slip paper blanks

The economic advantage, apart from the elimination of the investment in a cutting machine and the integration into the existing packing line, lies clearly in the logistics. While we have a few spaces on a pallet with rolls, we fill a Euro pallet or, for example, a CP1 pallet optimally with the blanks and use the entire surface. For this reason, we get significantly more square meters of blanks on a pallet and this has a noticeable impact on the relative freight.

In addition, the handling of blanks is significantly streamlined. A pallet with blanks is usually placed in the magazine and has enough space for 3,000 to 6,000 pallet layers with anti-slip blanks. With roll goods, on the other hand, you have to strike a balance between cost-effectiveness and the ability to handle the rolls. The heavier the roll, the more meters there are on the roll and the less frequently it has to be changed. However, a full pallet of anti-slip blanks weighs between 275 kg and 685 kg net. Rolls of this weight can only be moved with additional equipment and do not fit on standardized pallets.

Anti-slip paper blanks are usually cheaper

In our production, the main focus is on the price per square meter for the paper and the coating. After our anti-slip coating has been applied, the finished rolls of anti-slip paper go straight into a state-of-the-art, fully automatic cutting machine, which palletizes the blanks directly. This means that we only have minimal additional costs in the production of blanks. We then prepare these pallets for safe transportation, after which we can transport them directly to the customer or to one of our warehouses, making optimum use of the available space. As already mentioned, the advantage gained from the optimal use of space usually results in an overall economic advantage.

In addition to our plastic-free anti-slip paper, we also offer anti-slip cardboard for load securing and many other sustainable packaging options. If you have any questions or would like personal advice, our team will be happy to help.

Conclusion: Efficiency and savings with anti-slip paper blanks

If you have your own cutting machine, which is integrated into the existing packing line, you can use anti-slip paper on rolls. This allows the anti-slip paper to be cut to different sizes as required. However, if you do not have your own cutting machine, you should use pre-cut paper, as it not only saves space but is also ready for immediate use. This simplifies logistics and also saves on price.
