Anti-slip paper: roll or sheet?

Anti-slip paper protects the load from shifting during transport, thereby minimizing transport damage. This plastic-free specialty paper is a sustainable alternative to anti-slip mats and is a must-have for optimal load securing. It is generally manufactured in rolls. Consequently, it is often assumed that anti-slip paper rolls are cheaper than anti-slip paper cut-to-size sheets, but is that correct?
We can offer both options. However, using rolls of anti-slip paper also requires a suitable paper cutter, which must be ready to feed a sheet at the right time and should be carefully integrated into the packaging line. Roll stock offers advantages when many different formats are required on a packaging line, as these can be produced as needed using the cutting machine. If you wish, we would be happy to advise you personally regarding the integration of an anti-slip paper cutting machine into your production line.
Experience has shown that it is more cost-effective to use pre-cut sheets of anti-slip paper
The economic advantage—in addition to eliminating the need to invest in a cutting machine and integrating it into the existing packaging line—lies clearly in logistics. While we have some empty spaces on a pallet with rolls, we can optimally fill a Euro pallet or, for example, a CP1 pallet with the cut sheets and utilize the entire surface area. For this reason, we can fit significantly more square meters of cut sheets on a pallet, and this has a significant impact on freight costs.
In addition, the handling of cut-to-size sheets is significantly streamlined. A pallet of cut sheets is typically placed in the magazine, providing enough supply for 3,000 to 6,000 pallet layers with anti-slip cut sheets. With roll stock, however, one must strike a balance between cost-effectiveness and the ability to access the rolls. The heavier the roll, the more meters are on the roll, and the less frequently it needs to be changed. However, a full pallet of anti-slip sheets weighs between 275 kg and 685 kg net. Correspondingly heavy rolls could only be moved with additional equipment and do not fit on standard pallets.
Pre-cut sheets of anti-slip paper are usually cheaper
In our production process, we primarily focus on the price per square meter for the paper and the coating. After our anti-slip coating has been applied, the finished anti-slip paper rolls go directly into a state-of-the-art, fully automatic cutting machine, which immediately palletizes the cut sheets. This means we incur only minimal additional costs when producing cut sheets. We then prepare these pallets for safe transport, and subsequently we can transport them directly to the customer or to one of our warehouses in a truck with optimal space utilization. As previously noted, the advantage gained through optimal space utilization typically results in an overall economic benefit.
In addition to our plastic-free anti-slip paper, we also offer anti-slip cardboard for securing loads and many other sustainable packaging solutions. If you have any questions or would like personalized advice, our team is happy to assist you.
Conclusion: Efficiency and cost savings through custom-cut anti-slip paper
If you have your own cutting machine integrated into your existing packaging line, you can use anti-slip paper on rolls. This allows you to cut the anti-slip paper to various sizes as needed. However, if you do not have your own cutting machine, you should use pre-cut paper, as it is not only more space-efficient but also ready for immediate use. This simplifies logistics and also saves on costs.
